Top Ten Cooking Disasters of the Day

10. toys lain at my feet by my two year old.  She makes me feel like a pharoah... which I am I guess considering how hungry she is.  The value of the items, though, is hard to say.  Today, I had a pair of sunglasses, two of the aliens from Toy Story, a bracelet, a plastic toy spatula, a wooden block, three letters from her fridge phonics, and a Dora phone.  Essentials for any toddler purse I suppose, and essential for a pharoah's afterlife...

9. Tupperware dishes full of old food in the fridge… I had to clear them all out to find the butter.  We definitely need a bigger fridge to play leftover tetris in…

8. times I head the song “Born this Way,” chipette style, while cooking.  Granted, I did cook pizza, brownies, and make some oat flour, but that I think should only warrant three Gaga’s, one Gaga per dish...

7. p.m. when Kenzie took her afternoon nap. She just wouldn’t sleep while I was cooking.  I am sure you are thinking she will sleep right through the night.  HAHAHA… Hello, and welcome to my blog newcomer…

6. meals planned out.  I figured since I was digging for ingredients, I might as well plan for the rest of the week.  I wish I could plan each day, but my hubby is what I call a “moody” eater… he has to be in the mood for certain foods.  Yea, he is my pickiest eater… the girls will pretty much eat whatever …

5. bricks of cream cheese in the fridge.  My husband was trying these diet shakes, and he loved the strawberry cheesecake ones, but his busy schedule at work did not allow the making of shakes.  Oh what to do with all that cream cheese….

4. pizza crusts before I found an easy, gluten free version.  Basically, Jules’ requires complicated and expensive ingredients, and I have been experimenting with different flours to make one.  I finally stumbled over an oat flour/soy flour/Jules gf all purpose flour version with only 7 ingredients: oil, salt, baking powder, milk, and the three flours.  I was very proud of myself (I’ll post the recipe here).

3. minutes it took Abby to eat her dinner once she found out the prize was a cheesecake brownie.  Abby eats as much as I do, so it is hard to tell who has the eating problem…

2. cycles of the dishwasher to clean from my cooking escapade.  I wish I could find a neighbor who loves to eat and do dishes to complement my love of cooking… the only reason I don’t cook more is because I HATE the clean up…

1. chilled cheesecake brownie (I swear I only had 1) with a cup of coffee… and a 4 year old to have one-on-one time with.  I love these times at home during the summer when I can be a stay at home mom and a full time wife.  Teaching allows you to be a working mom and a stay at home mom at the same time!
